<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a patch image in parallel with changing speed of a polygon mirror between sheets, in the same way as when speed is not changed.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit which exposes a photoreceptor with a polygon mirror, develops an electrostatic latent image formed on the photoreceptor, and forms an image on a carrier; and a control unit which changes rotation speed of the polygon mirror between sheets on the carrier, to change magnification of an image to be formed. The control unit changes rotation speed of the polygon mirror in stages (step S15) when a patch image is formed between the sheets where the speed of the polygon mirror is changed, so that the polygon mirror can be stably rotated in each stage, and causes the image forming unit to form the patch image modified in accordance with the stepwise speed change, in parallel with the stepwise speed change, so as to be the same as the patch image formed when the speed is not changed (step S14).</p> |
