PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object tracking apparatus and method thereof capable of reliably detecting and tracking a moving object from the beginning of the detection. ! SOLUTION: The object tracking apparatus and the method thereof includes the steps of: detecting faces included in images continuously taken by a camera; setting a reliability degree with respect to the face detected in each image; classifying the reliability degree into plural segments of reliability degree at predetermined intervals; linking detected objects which continue within an identical segment of reliability degree as a tracking object in an order of higher reliability degree; and performing interpolation processing to link the identical detection objects included in the other segments of reliability degree, to thereby determine the tracking.
