PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for vehicles which allows a reduction of a number of parts for fixing a motor compressor reliably and a cost reduction in mounting a vertical motor compressor. ! SOLUTION: An air conditioner for vehicles is based on heat exchange between a cooling liquid and a coolant and comprises: a vertical electric compressor which compresses and discharges a sucked coolant and is fixed to the vehicle in its bottom part; and a water/coolant heat exchanger which exchanges heat between the heat-carrying cooling liquid and a high-temperature, high-pressure coolant. The water/coolant heat exchanger is arranged so as to cover at least a half range of the electric compressor in the circumferential direction, with the vertical-direction axis as the center, and the electric compressor and the water/coolant heat exchanger are arranged so as to be in contact with each other. !
