PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can form an image on a sheet having been used for cleaning without problems. ! SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus circulates sheets along a carrier path with a carrier roller, carries them, and prints them with an ink jet device. Control means determines dirt of the carrier roller and a printing rate of an image to be formed on a sheet. When it is determined that there is a specific image whose dirt is over a threshold and whose printing rate is over a threshold among jobs of single-sided printing for a plurality of sheets, sheets supplied at a timing prior to the sheets where specific images are formed just for the number of circulatable sheets of the carrier path are circulated and carried without forming images, and cleaning is performed, the specific images are formed, and discharged. !
