PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carrier particles capable of providing sufficient image density even when the speed of image formation becomes faster in an image forming apparatus employing an electrophotographic method.SOLUTION: Carrier particles are made to have a gap area S calculated from the following formula (1) in a range of 180 μmto 250 μm. It is preferable that the carrier particles have a composition represented by MFeO(where M is at least one type of metal selected from the group consisting of Mg, Mn, Ca, Ti, Cu, Zn, Sr, and Ni; and 0<X≤1).
