PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which can achieve reduction in luminance unevenness and improve an injection performance of a carrier.SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent element comprises: a substrate 10; a first electrode 20 provided on the substrate 10; a second electrode 40 opposite to the first electrode 20; and a functional layer 30 which is provided between the first electrode 20 and the second electrode 40 and includes a luminescent layer 32. A resistivity of each of the first electrode 20 and the second electrode 40 is lower than that of a transparent conductive oxide. The second electrode 40 has an opening for light extraction. At the opening, a carrier injection layer 34 which is in contact with the second electrode 40 and the functional layer 30, and a conductive layer 50 having light permeability, which is in contact with the second electrode 40 and the carrier injection layer 34 are provided. The functional layer 30 includes a carrier blocking layer 33 which inhibits leakage from the luminescent layer 32 of a carrier injected from the first electrode 20 as an outermost layer with which both of the second electrode and the carrier injection layer are in contact. |
