By using an optically anisotropic body having as a constituent material a polymer obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable compound represented by formula (I) or a polymerizable composition containing said polymerizable compound and a polymerization initiator, an optical film can be obtained which has a practical low melting point, has excellent solubility in common solvents, can be produced at low cost, has excellent transparency, and is capable of a uniform polarization conversion in a wide wavelength range. In formula (I), Y1 to Y8 represent -O-, -O-C(=O)-, -C(=O)-O-, etc., G1 and G2 a divalent linear aliphatic group of 1-20 carbon atoms, Z1 and Z2 an alkenyl group of 2-10 carbon atoms optionally substituted by a halogen atom, Ax an organic group of 2-30 carbon atoms having an aromatic ring, Ay a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of 1-20 carbon atoms, etc., A1 is a trivalent aromatic group, A2 and A3 a divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group of 3-30 carbon atoms, A4 and A5 a divalent aromatic group of 6-30 carbon atoms, and Q1 a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms. |
