The method involves connecting two ends of a drying cylinder (100) to a bearing pin (110). A bearing assembly (220) is retractably mounted in a dryer section for monitoring operation of the bearing assembly by a MSR device. Storage temperature measurement is monitored by the bearing assembly that is associated with temperature sensors (310-330). A signal is output by the MSR device if measured storage temperature exceeds a predetermined maximum value. Oil temperature of lubrication oil is measured by the bearing assembly.
