PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide amorphous materials for phase change ink compositions (or solid inks) derived from biorenewable sources and characterized by being solid at room temperature and molten at an elevated temperature at which the molten ink is applied to a substrate.SOLUTION: A reaction mixture contains, e.g., a malate obtained by reacting, in a solvent, a malic acid selected from the group consisting of DL-malic acid, D-malic acid, L-malic acid and mixtures thereof with an alcohol selected from among one or more alcohols specified in the figure and mixtures thereof. |
