A monitoring system (1) for people-transporting systems (2), which are in the form of an elevator, escalator or moving walkway, comprises at least one query device (20) and at least one safety switch (21) which is connected to said query device (20) via an electrical safety circuit (22) and is used for monitoring a door lock (3) of the people-transporting system (2). An independent energy supply device (30) is provided. The query device (20) can be supplied by said independent energy supply device (30).
