The device has a cylinder (2) and an intake system (1) provided with an intake control (3) of a combustion engine. The intake system is fluidically connected with a heat engine according to pulse tube principle. A heat exchanger (5) receives exhaust gas heat of the combustion engine, and is coupled with a gas/heat accumulator (6). The heat exchanger and the gas/heat accumulator are fluidically coupled with one another in series. A pulse tube (4) and the gas/heat accumulator are coaxially arranged and fluidically coupled over the heat exchanger. An independent claim is also included for a method for using gas heat exhausted from a combustion engine.
