The invention relates to a flame-retardant wooden substrate. According to the invention, the substrate is provided with a coating of and/or is impregnated with a flame retardant, selected from the group consisting of organic halogen compounds that are liquid at room-temperature and organic phosphorus- or boron compounds, and with a lacquer coat applied to said coating or impregnated substrate.
