The invention relates to a method for determining the temperature of fuel in a fuel pump. The method (100) according to the invention comprises the steps: detecting (103) a control pause of an electric coil in a solenoid valve held in the fuel pump; applying (104) a predetermined measuring current to the electric coil of the solenoid valve during a measuring window set for the duration of the detected control pause; measuring (105) the ohmic resistance of the electric coil within the set measuring window; determining the temperature (107) of the electric coil on the basis of the current ohmic resistance measured within the set measuring window; and determining the temperature of the fuel in accordance with the current determined temperature of the coil for the set measuring window. A temperature-resistance characteristic curve is observed for the electric coil and the current measured ohmic resistance is compared to the temperature-resistance characteristic curve for the electric coil and as a result of said comparison a corresponding temperature value from said temperature-resistance characteristic curve is associated with the current measured ohmic resistance. |
