A poppet valve is provided with an umbrella section (11) and a shaft section (10) which extends from the umbrella section (11). At least part of the umbrella back surface (13) of the umbrella section (11) is covered with a cover (14) with a heat insulating space (21) provided therebetween. A support section is provided between the cover (14) and the umbrella section (11), the support section supporting the cover (14) on the umbrella section (11) with rubber (18) having lower heat conductivity than the umbrella section (11) disposed between the cover (14) and the umbrella section (11).
