The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for editing texts in a portable terminal. A content including at least one letter is displayed. At least one letter is received in a first display region. A mode is changed into an editing mode to edit the content if the inputted letter is out of the first display region when the inputted letter is dragged to replace a specific word included in the content located in a second display region. If the drag of the inputted letter is finished on the specific word, the specific word is replaced by the inputted letter. |
