PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible, in a configuration in which a document is floated with a step member and a roller of an opposing unit of the step member arranged upstream of an image reading position so as to perform non-contact conveyance, to perform reading of an image, even at a rear end part of a document, at substantially the same position as areas other than the rear end part, so as to obtain a good image.SOLUTION: A second reading unit 125 of an ADF comprises: an image reading unit 401 including a light source, an optical system, and an imaging element; contact glass 402; a step member 403; and a white color reference member 404. A nip of a reading exit roller 127 is arranged above a step surface 407 of the step member 403. A document is conveyed while constantly being pulled to some extent, and an attitude of the document is determined by the step surface 407 and a projection part 506. The attitude of the document is determined on the image-reading side. Since a position to read an image is not changed even when a thickness of paper for a document is changed, good images can be stably read irrespective of the thickness of paper. |
