A method for manufacturing a lightweight and thin liquid crystal display device according to the present invention easily separates an auxiliary substrate from a liquid crystal panel, which is in the form of a bonded cell after completion of processes, without damage by removing an OH group with inert gas or the like sprayed on the surface of a substrate before a thin glass substrate is bonded to the auxiliary substrate in case of using the auxiliary substrate for a thin glass substrate process.
