摘要 <p>The present invention relates to a failure prediction system of a surge protection apparatus for predicting the failure of a varistor (MOV) by analyzing the inflow of a surge current. The principal structure of the present invention includes: a surge current detection part (11) for detecting the inflow of a surge current so as to store the value of the surge current; a surge inflow counting part (12) for counting the number of the inflows of a surge current detected so as to store the number; a surge frequency detection part (13) for recognizing the frequency waveform of a detected surge current by analyzing the rising time and the falling time of the surge current; an inflow energy detection part (14) for converting the surge current detected by the surge current detection part (11) to the amount of energy applied to the MOV by the surge current; a failure limit setting part (16) for managing the information of each failure rate based on the limit current value, limit frequency waveform, limit energy amount, limit surge inflow number, and temperature-dependent limit current value of the MOV; and a failure rate prediction part (17) for comparing the detected surge current value, the surge inflow number, and the energy amount of the surge current of the inflow energy detection part (14) with the limit current value, limit frequency waveform, limit energy amount, and limit surge inflow number of the MOV registered in the failure limit setting part (16) so as to respectively determine the failure rates of the MOV.</p>
