PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display unit and a head-mounted display capable of preventing the incidence of light into a movable part when the oscillation of the movable part is stopped.SOLUTION: An image display unit 1 comprises: a light source 3; a light guide part L through which light emitted from the light source 3 passes; a light reflection part 114 which reflects light; a movable part 11 provided with the light reflection part; a light scanner 42 including a movable part driving part 110 which oscillates the movable part 11; a switching part 5 which is provided between the light source 3 of the light guide part L and the light scanner 42 and switches between a passing state where the light is emitted from the light guide part L and a blocking state where no light is emitted from the light guide part L; and a detection part 8 which detects whether or not the movable part 11 oscillates. The switching part 5 switches to the blocking state when the detection part 8 detects that the oscillation of the movable part 11 is stopped. |
