1. An aerodynamic golf club head comprising:
A) a hollow body having a club head volume, a face, a sole section, a crown section, a front, a back, a heel, a toe, and a shaft axis oriented at a design lie angle; B) the face having a top edge and a lower edge, wherein a top edge height is the elevation of the top edge above a ground plane, and a lower edge height is the elevation of the lower edge above the ground plane; C) the crown section having a crown apex located an apex height above the ground plane, and a crown apex ratio that is the apex height (AH) to a maximum top edge height, wherein within a front-to-back vertical section through the crown apex, and perpendicular to a vertical plane created by a shaft axis, the crown section has (i) a portion of the crown section between the crown apex and the face having a crown apex-to-front radius of curvature, and (ii) a portion of the crown section between the crown apex and the back of the hollow body has a crown apex-to-rear radius of curvature; D) the sole section having a sole apex that is the lowest point on the sole section, wherein a minimum lower edge height is the vertical distance from the sole apex to a lowest point on the lower edge, wherein within a front-to-back vertical section through the sole apex the sole section, and perpendicular to a vertical plane created by a shaft axis, has (i) a portion of the sole section between the sole apex and the face having a sole apex-to-front radius of curvature, and (ii) a portion of the sole section between the sole apex and the back of the hollow body has a sole apex-to-rear radius of curvature; and E) wherein a vertical distance from the minimum lower edge height to the sole apex is at least 11.5% of the apex height. |
