The method involves providing two functional films (18,19) and positioning the two functional films in an injection mold on two opposite side walls (5,6) of a mold chamber (7). The plastic is injected into the mold chamber between the functional films, where the function film is back-molded for forming a base body. The base body with attached functional films is removed as a finished projection element from the mold chamber. The plastic is thermoplastic, duroplastic or silicone. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a device for manufacturing a projection element, particularly for a head-up display of a vehicle; and (2) a projection element, particularly for a head-up display of a vehicle.
