Abstract The invention relates to a mitre, compound or chop saw apparatus which include a cutting head movable between raised and lowered positions. The cutting head is mounted on a slide so as to be movable therealong with respect to the base. The slide has at least one external elongate flat face which acts as a guide face for the movement of the cutting head therealong and overcomes the need for a plurality of slides to be provided.
