PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decorative thread guide member for an overlock sewing machine and the overlock sewing machine which can apply appropriate tension to a sewing thread even when the sewing thread to be used is a thick decorative thread.SOLUTION: A decorative thread guide member for an overlock sewing machine of the present invention applies thread-holding pressure adapted to a sewing method to a decorative thread. The decorative thread guide member for the overlock sewing machine includes: a tension application part for applying tension to the decorative thread; and a connection part having a fixing part for fixing the decorative thread guide member on the upper part of a sewing machine case on one end and having the tension application part on the other end. The decorative thread guide member for the overlock sewing machine is fixed on the upper part of the sewing machine case and guides the decorative thread to a sewing needle via the tension application part.
