The floor milling machine has a rotary grinder case (9) comprising a height adjustable stripping unit. The stripping unit is arranged in working direction behind the rotary grinder case. The stripping unit is adjustable between a lowered depth position and a raised height position. A rotary grinder (8) is arranged in the rotary grinder case. A safety gate is adjustable between a working position and a maintenance position. A coupling unit is formed in such a manner that it adjusts the safety gate between its working position and its maintenance position depending on the position of the stripping unit. An independent claim is included for a method for moving a safety gate of a floor milling machine between a working position and a maintenance position.
