发明名称 Improvements in or relating to azo pigment dyestuff compositions
摘要 An azo-pigment composition comprises an azo-pigment and one or more water-insoluble metal soaps each comprising the radicles of a "resinic acid" and a "fatty acid", i.e. containing a common cation. Optionally an inorganic salt may be present, e.g. an alkali, alkaline, lead, zinc or magnesium salt of hydrochloric, sulphuric or nitric acid. The term "resinic acid" means rosin, abietic acid, their hydrogenated derivatives and their condensation products with an olefin monocarboxylic acid, e.g. crotonic acid or with an unsaturated dibasic acid, e.g. maleic, acetylene dicarboxylic pyrocinchonic, itaconic or citraconic acid. The term "fatty acid" means the soap-forming saturated or unsaturated organic acids such as naphthenic, stearic, ricinoleic, oleic or caprylic or fatty acids derived from corn, rape seed, perilla oil, soya bean, sunflower or linseed. Specified azo pigments are the sodium or barium salts of coupled 2-naphthol and 2-chloro-5-toluidine-4 sulphonic acid, the sodium, calcium or barium salts of coupled 2 - naphthylamine - 1 - sulphonic acid and 2-naphthol, coupled 2-chloro-4-nitraniline and 2-naphthol or coupled m-nitro-p-toluidine with 2-naphthol. The compositions may be made by (1) dry mixing a soap or soaps of the above type, e.g. the barium salt of oleic acid and maleic acid-wood rosin condensate with a dry azo pigment; or (2) coating the pigment particles with a layer or layers of the soaps, by suspending the pigment in water together with soluble salts of the fatty and resinic acids, adding a salt, e.g. barium chloride, to precipitate the soaps on the pigment particles, and then removing the particles with or without washing. Coating compositions containing the azo pigment composition are made by dispersing the compositions or components of the composition in a liquid vehicle such as Regular litho varnish (a bodied linseed oil), alkyd varnishes which may be dissolved in mineral spirits, litho varnish plus paraffin oil, non-break linseed oil, or a mixture of ester gum, linseed and chinawood oils and mineral spirits. The compositions are used as printing inks or paints.ALSO:An azo-pigment composition comprises an azo-pigment and one or more water-insoluble metal soaps, each comprising the radicles of a "resinic acid" and a "fatty acid," i.e. containing a common cation.
