[Class 8(ii)] In an air filter of the oil bath type wherein air having entered through openings 11 of a casing 10 passes downwardly outside an annular skirt 13, through the bath then upwardly inside of the skirt 13, and radially inwardly through a filter 16 to a coaxial; air outlet 17, a baffle 18 covers the lower portion of the filter 16, is supported solely thereby and is substantially entirely submerged below the level 14 of the bath. The filter 16 comprises a plurality of layers 19, 20, 21, 22 of wire mesh and the baffle 18 comprises a gas impervious sheet of metal supported between layers 19, 20, and makes sealing engagement with the floor 10a of the bath.
