<p>This invention relates to polycyclic organic compounds of a general structural formula (I): wherein Y is a predominantly planar polycyclic system being at least partially aromatic, W1, W2, and W3 are different groups providing solubility in an organic solvent, and sum n1+n2+n3 is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10, which are capable of forming supramolecular structures in a wide range of organic solvents, and which are capable of absorbing electromagnetic radiation in at least one subrange of the visible spectral range.</p> |
