A light-emitting device 1 including: a substrate 110; LEDs 120 arranged on the substrate 110 in a row; electrode pad pairs each including electrode pads 141a and 142a at opposite sides of a corresponding LED 120 in a row direction; Zener diodes (protective elements) 160 in one-to-one correspondence to circuits (groups) U1 to U8 each including nine consecutive LEDs 120, each protective element being located between adjacent electrode pads 141a and 142a; and a sealing member 130 sealing the LEDs 120, the electrode pad pairs, and the Zener diodes 160, wherein, in each circuit, a distance between electrode pads 141a and 142a included in an electrode pad pair corresponding to an LED 120 located closest to the Zener diode 160 is the shortest, and a distance between electrode pads 141a and 142a varies between two electrode pad pairs other than the electrode pad pair corresponding to the closest LED 120.
