PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thrust bearing in which an oil film can be formed reliably, and a polishing method.SOLUTION: The thrust bearing is provided in which a plurality of pressure receiving faces in a floating island shape are formed on any one sliding surface, and the other sliding surface is formed into flat part. Each of the pressure receiving faces in the floating island shape is comprised of a flat part and a crowning part around the flat part. Surface roughness of the flat part is equal to that of the crowning part, and each of the pressure receiving faces is formed with such surface roughness as to form fluid lubrication between the pressure receiving faces and the other sliding surface. With respect to a crowning height (c) that is a height difference between the crowning part and the flat part and a film thickness (h) between the one sliding surface and the other sliding surface, a value (c/h) obtained by dividing the crowning height (c) by the film thickness (h) is 0.1 to 10. |
