A lighter than air gas filled balloon is used to lift air intake portion of a wind energy conversion system in order to harness the wind energy. The turbine and the generator are mounted on the ground. The intake nozzle assembly is configured to receive and to accelerate wind. The accelerated wind creates low air pressure area in the venturi piping downstream of the balloon. At this point lightweight reinforced piping connects to allow the air from the ground level to be drawn in upwards. Resulting air movement spins the turbine and the generator. Configuration of the wind conversion system creates uplift due to the flowing wind, which would minimize the use of the balloon gas fill make up. Wind provides most of energy for the turbine. Airflow due to stack effect within the vertical piping is also a contributing source of energy.
