PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating an underwater depression by accurately and surely forming a modified dredged soil layer on a superficial layer of the foundation ground made up of dredged soil dumped into the underwater depression. SOLUTION: In an underwater depression treatment method, after forming the foundation ground by dumping dredged soil into an underwater depression, a superficial layer of the foundation ground is covered by a modified dredged soil layer while sequentially dumping modified dredged soil containing steel slag onto each of prescribed sub-regions on the superficial layer. A relationship between a construction thickness D of the modified dredged soil to be dumped onto the sub-regions and a settlement amount H of the modified dredged soil is predicted based on a prescribed formula including a density of the dredged soil and a density of the modified dredged soil; and the modified dredged soil is dumped in a manner that a ratio (H/D) of H to D becomes equal to or lower than 1.0 to form the modified dredged soil layer.
