661,838. Spray carburetters. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Sept. 26, 1949 [Jan. 19, 1949], No. 24624/49. Class 7(iii) A linkage 21, 29 is designed, as the choke valve operating lever 23 moves clockwise from the normal position towards fully choked position, initially to open the throttle valve 34 to fast idle position without moving the choke valve and then to close the choke valve with the throttle valve remaining in the fast idle position. The choke valve 33, spring biassed towards closing, is normally held open by. an arm 20 of the lever 21 freely pivoted at 25 and connected by a lost motion connection 26, 27, to the freely pivoted lever 23 which carries a cam 32 operating with a follower 31 on a lever 29 pivoted at 30 and carrying a stop 16 limiting the closing position of the throttle valve. During movement of lever 23 clockwise from the normal position, Fig. 1, by the amount permitted by the lost motion 26, 27, the-lever 21, is held stationary by a friction device to keep the valve 33 open and the cam 32 rotates lever 29 to cause the stop 16 to move the valve 34 to fast idle position, Fig. 4. Further movement of lever 23 rotates the lever 21 to allow the choke valve 33 to close, the valve 34 remaining unaffected.
|
