Determining the biogenic and fossil carbon content, as well as the share of mass and energy, of fuels and recycling materials

The method involves reducing particle size of fuels and recycling materials. Ash content and/or heating loss is determined from a part of a sample such that the sample is annealed at temperatures from 400 to 600 degree Celsius. Contents of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur and/or carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen and/or carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur and/or carbon, hydrogen and oxygen of the dried sample and dried annealing residue are determined by determining carbon balance, hydrogen balance, oxygen balance, nitrogen balance and sulfur balance.
