摘要 A system for in situ fabrication of pultruded composite structures from unconsolidated composite material 9 and elements or modules 7 for co-consolidation with the composite material comprises articulated roller dies 13 that draw the structure through the system. The unconsolidated material may be a prepreg or infused immediately prior to use, and dies may be heated to effect curing. The elements or modules may include adhesion promoting surface features or ligaments to promote force transfer between the elements and the structure. Electrical or mechanical control cable, an optical fibre, or an RF or acoustic wave guide may pass between consolidated elements. The modules may contain transponders, sensors, or actuators. In being articulated the dies allow non-constant cross-sections and curved structures to be produced. The structure may be terminated with one of the elements or modules which has a joint feature, or by lay-up or roller die manipulation to form a socket or lug. Following pultrusion the structure may be bonded to the roller dies to permanently anchor it. The system may be used on a space craft such as to form a satellite antenna, or on a nautical vessel to form an array of hydrophones for under-sea exploration or detection.
