In accordance with an embodiment, a gating device is connected to a pixel core. The gating device may include a control structure and one or more terminals, wherein the one or more terminals are commonly connected to each other and connected to the pixel core. Alternatively, the terminals may be connected to corresponding photodiodes.

1. A pixel, comprising:
a transfer transistor having a control electrode and first and second current carrying electrodes; a photodiode having a first terminal coupled to the first current carrying electrode of the transfer transistor; a second reset transistor having a control electrode and first and second current carrying electrodes, wherein the first current carrying electrode of the second reset transistor is coupled for receiving a first source of operating potential and the second current carrying electrode of the second reset transistor is coupled to the first terminal of the photodiode and to the first current carrying electrode of the transfer transistor;and a gating device having a control electrode and first and second electrodes, the first and second electrodes of the gating device coupled together and to the first terminal of the photodiode.
