PURPOSE: An image display device and a setting method for an equalizer are provided to automatically set the value of an equalizer using the HDCP(High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) authentication between external devices connected to the image display device. CONSTITUTION: An equalizer(17) uniformly applies the range that the frequency characteristic of signals inputted from an HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) external device within a necessary range. A controller(13) checks HDCP authentication success or failure of the signal inputted from the HDMI external device. The controller detects equalizer setting value in which HDCP authentication succeeds. The controller sets the detected middle value as optimal values of the equalizer according to the HDMI external device. |
