The invention is a medical monitor including an electronic circuit configured to receive a signal from the physiological sensor. A microcomputer configured to process the signal from the physiological sensor generates a value representative of the physiological parameter. The microcomputer is also configured to cause the medical monitor to display an in-service help screen on a display on the medical monitor in response to a detection of a predetermined number of out of range values of the physiological parameter. The microcomputer can also be configured to process a second signal from a second sensor representative of a second parameter and the microcomputer configured to cause the medical monitor to display an in-service help screen on a display on the medical monitor in response to a detection of a predetermined number of out of range values of the second parameter. |

1. A medical monitor comprising:
at least one physiological sensor, said at least one physiological sensor being configured to measure a physiological parameter; an electronic circuit configured to receive a signal from said at least one physiological sensor, said electronic circuit further comprising a microcomputer programmed to process said signal from said at least one physiological sensor and to generate a value representative of said physiological parameter; and a display connected to said electronic circuit, said microcomputer being further programmed to cause said medical monitor to display an in-service help screen on said display in response to a detection of a predetermined number of out of range values of said physiological parameter, said in- service help screen displaying at least one corrective measure for a user relating to said at least one physiological sensor, said at least one corrective measure being provided in a non-textual form, said microcomputer including a timer, the microcomputer being further programmed to initiate the timer when commencing a medical measurement using said at least one physiological sensor, wherein said microcomputer is further programmed to determine whether a condition of said physiological sensor has been achieved within a predetermined time period and if said condition has not been achieved within said time period, then said microcomputer is programmed to display a corrective measure for a user and wherein said at least one physiological sensor comprises an oral temperature probe wherein said in-service help screen displays an image of a sublingual pocket indicating a correct placement of said oral temperature probe within said pocket to assist a user. |
