providing a called number from a telephone on an internet protocol network to a time division multiplexing switch, wherein providing the called number comprises converting the called number to a pulse code modulation robbed bit signal by utilizing an electronic processor; transmitting the pulse code modulation robbed bit signal to the time division multiplexing switch for a call between the internet protocol network and a remote non-internet protocol network; terminating an internet protocol packet call to a digital signal 0 assignment; routing the internet protocol packet call to the hybrid internet protocol digital loop carrier; converting the internet protocol packet call to a multiple digital signal 0 digital signal; and converting an invite message of the telephone to a B bit toggle when an off-hook condition of the telephone occurs.
