The present invention relates to a public transport usage system using a mobile terminal and a method thereof. The present invention can transfer information on the means of transportation as well as user information and balance information through near field communication and produce moving distance and fee information corresponding to location information produced by GPS. The present invention comprises: a mobile terminal transmitting the moving distance, fee, and get-off information to a fee calculating terminal through wi-fi network based on get-off information produced by a public transport usage application; and the fee calculating terminal for receiving the user and balance information through near field communication as well as transmitting the information on the means of transportation, controlling the lighting of bells and buzzer depending on the get-off information, and for computing the final fee based on the information on moving distance, fee and the status of wi-fi network. Users do not need to tag a transport card or mobile terminal to a reader unit when getting off, thereby reducing the time required for preparing to get off and effectively operating the means of transportation. Also, users can reduce unnecessary movement on a public transport, thereby improving the convenience of using public transport and preventing safety accidents. |
