Disclosed are a vehicle and a method for controlling the vehicle, capable of deploying an airbag at the best point of time. According to a first embodiment of the present invention, the vehicle comprises a first sensor sensing the relative velocity and distance of the vehicle to front obstacles; a second sensor sensing a crash signal value when the vehicle collides with the obstacles; and a controller changing a set crash critical value using the relative speed and distance sensed by the first sensor, and deploying the airbag when the crash signal value is higher than the changed crash critical value. |
