The present invention relates to a novel compound having a skin whitening activity and a medical use thereof. The compounds according to the present invention have skin-whitening activities for the suppression of tyrosinase, and accordingly, can be used as a pharmaceutical composition, a cosmetic composition, or a functional health food for skin whitening. The present invention provides a compound represented by chemical formula 1, isomers thereof, and mixtures thereof.
