The present invention relates to a home socket power control device using infrared rays and an operating method thereof capable of remotely controlling power supply while preventing the unnecessary consumption of waiting power in an electronic device or home appliance connected to a power socket, since furniture is placed regardless of positions of power sockets installed on walls of apartments and private houses and the output of power is blocked or supplied in a blocked state by remotely controlling the sockets with all types of infrared remote controllers. The device includes a housing part forming the appearance of the power socket; an infrared ray transceiving part transceiving a data signal by converting the signal into an infrared signal; a socket control part extracting a control command signal from the received data signal; a data format analyzing part confirming a data format of the extracted control command signal; a remote controller format storage part storing encoding and decoding information of multiple data formats in an allocated area; an NFC communications part communicating with an external terminal connected in NFC communications; a switch part supplying commercial power or blocking the supply; a state display part displaying a set state of the switch part in an LED type; and a rotation joint part separating the infrared ray transceiving part from the housing part. |
