A communication system, method, and components are described. Specifically, a communication system having the ability to enable a media server to provide audio substitution during a dynamic device pairing scenario is disclosed. The media server may be included in the call topology, for instance, by way of a dynamic device pairing server or application that facilitates the dynamic pairing of a media device and a control device for a communication session.

1. A method of facilitating a communication session between a first user and a second user, the method comprising:
establishing a first media path between a media server and a control device operated by the first user; establishing a second media path between the media server and a media device operated by the first user, at least some functions of the media device being controllable by the control device; establishing a third media path between the media server and a third communication device operated by the second user; and obscuring at least one of (i) an existence of the first media path from the second user during the communication session, (ii) an existence of the media server from the second user during communication session, and (iii) an existence of the media device from the second user during the communication session.
