The method involves joining two individual elements i.e. aluminum elements (3, 5), in an assembled state of a component (1) and forming an intermediate space provided with a molding. The molding (9) is applied from a thermally activatable froth for reinforcement of a voltage sensitive region (7) of the component before assembly of the individual elements locally or near the space characterizing the voltage sensitive region. The component is subjected to a heat treatment to activate the foam according to the joining process. An independent claim is also included for a motor car.
