PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent overheating of a solenoid without unnecessarily reducing a noise reduction effect in controlling valve opening of a high pressure pump.SOLUTION: When an estimated heat generation amount of a solenoid 30 is an allowable value or less in opening a metering valve 23, power supply to the solenoid 30 is continued to keep a movable portion 28 at a closing-side position, by the time of opening the metering valve 23 due to lowering of a fuel pressure in a pump chamber 17, then the power supply to the solenoid 30 is temporarily stopped after opening the metering valve 23, and the power is temporarily re-supplied to the solenoid 30 before the movable portion 28 reaches an opening-side position. On the other hand, when the estimated heat generation amount of the solenoid valve 30 is over the allowable value, the power supply to the solenoid 30 is continued to keep the movable portion 28 at the closing-side position by the time before the metering valve 23 is opened due to lowering of the fuel pressure in the pump chamber 17, then the power supply to the solenoid 30 is temporarily stopped before the metering valve 23 is opened, and the power is temporarily re-supplied to the solenoid 30 before the movable portion 28 reaches the opening-side position. |
