PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductor for a high speed transmission cable having excellent connection reliability and high frequency transmission properties though being inexpensive than the one obtained by forming a coating layer made of Ag on the surface of a core material, a method for producing the same, and a high speed transmission cable.SOLUTION: The conductor 1 for a high speed transmission cable comprises: a core material 2 essentially consisting of copper; and an amorphous layer 3 formed on the surface of the core material 2 and containing a metallic element (such as zinc) having affinity with oxygen higher than that of copper, and oxygen.
