A method and a device for optically recognizing an object are disclosed. The object recognition method comprises the steps of assigning optically distinct patterns to each of objects that are recognition targets; arranging the distinct patterns to objects disposed in a space; acquiring image information by photographing the distinct patterns; extracting object information of the objects by analyzing the image information; and detecting the distinct patterns of the objects from the information to classify and recognize the objects.
