PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge protection circuit suitable for a high-speed transmission path, and a communication device.SOLUTION: A surge protection circuit includes; a first terminal connected to a high-speed transmission path; a second terminal connected to a PHY circuit; a clamp section branching from a line between the first terminal and the second terminal and connected to the line, and clamping a voltage inputted to the first terminal to a predetermined clamp voltage; and a semiconductor switch element disposed between a branch point where the clamp section is branched from the line and the second terminal, having a rectification direction from the second terminal to the first terminal, and having a higher reverse withstand voltage than the clamp voltage of the clamp section. |
