PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel methods of utilizing bile acid transport inhibitors for the treatment of obesity and diabetes.SOLUTION: This invention provides methods for treating obesity and diabetes by using benzothiazepine derivatives alone, the derivatives represented by formula I having bile acid transport inhibitory action, or in combination with other drugs.
