PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable device and method for parking a vehicle at low costs.SOLUTION: A transmission 4 is provided with: a gear train 38 for engine travel which can shift the rotational power transmitted from an engine 2 to transmit to wheels and is switchable to a plurality of transmission stages; a gear train 39 for EV travel which can shift the rotational power transmitted from a motor generator 5 to transmit to the wheels and is switchable to the plurality of transmission stages; and a first change-over mechanism 35 switchable to connection of and cancellation of the gear train 38 for engine travel to and from the gear train 39 for EV travel. A transmission control device connects the engine 2 to the wheels by the gear train 38 when a vehicle start switch is made to be off and the parking state of a vehicle is detected, the connection of the motor generator 5 and the wheels is cut by the gear train 39, and the gear train 39 is cut from the gear train 38 by the first change-over mechanism 35.
